Village
The resort Ehrwald is a family friendly, charming village that lies in a wide, sunny valley. It has been known for its excellent winter sports facilities and pleasant atmosphere.
In the centre of Ehrwald you will find the ‘Kirchplatz’ or church square, with it’s old chestnut trees and the picturesque white church. This square perfectly illustrates the atmosphere in the rest of the village. Despite Ehrwald having retained its ancient traditions, the village has kept up with the times. Thus, the village offers modern shopping facilities and there are several lively bars and restaurants.
Ski region
The total ski resort of Ehrwald falls into three parts. On the outskirts of the village you will find the small ski area, Wettersteingebirge. Here beginners can find great practice slopes. A next step is the Ehrwald Alm, a modern domain with a gondola, two chairlifts and three surface lifts.
More than 10 km of these slopes can be artificially snowed. The Alm caters best to more advanced skiers. Only 3 km away from Ehrwald a lift will bring you to the top of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Just below the top you will find the ski area Zugspitzplatt. Because of its high position on the mountain it’s home to some of the best snow you can find in the months between November and May and Ehrwald can always guarantee snow.
