Village
Châtel is an authentic mountain village with a central location in Portes du Soleil. Thanks to the many restaurants and cozy bars, there is a real winter sports atmosphere!
The lift to the sunny Super Châtel ski area leaves from the center of Châtel. Here beginners and children can have fun and practice. For the more interesting slopes, take the ski bus to Pré la Joux, which departs within walking distance of the chalet. This lift takes you directly into the Portes du Soleil ski area.
Châtel has a good reputation when it comes to après-ski. After skiing, you can have a drink at one of the many bars or go out in the evening to spots such as Sloopy’s and L’Avalanche.
The village has also proven itself far and wide as a family destination. Here you will find child-friendly slopes and a club where the little ones can learn to ski in a playful way.
In Châtel there are plenty of activities to do for the non-winter sports enthusiast. How about a visit to the cheese farm, an unforgettable experience with paragliding or a cool ice dive? You will also find an indoor swimming pool and a wellness center here.
Ski region
Skiing here is a cross-border experience, because the slopes near Châtel border on Switzerland. Châtel is part of the fantastic ski area "Portes du Soleil". More than 220 lifts make 650 kilometres of skiing available, with numerous possibilities.
Less experienced and advanced skiers alike can go 'wandering' for days and make trips to places like Morgins, Avoriaz and Champery, from France to Switzerland and vice versa. The best skiers can find one of the steepest slopes of the Alps (‘the wall’) in Pas de Chavanette and pristine snow conditions on the Pointe de Mosette. To sum up, a superb ski area!
