Luxury group accommodation in Wagrain for 12 to 14 guests

Chalet Joy has seven luxurious double bedrooms spread across three floors. The rooms differ in layout and facilities, allowing you to decide in advance which rooms are best suited to the different members of your group. The interior has a luxurious alpine character, combining robust timber, natural materials and contemporary furnishings to create a warm and stylish Austrian atmosphere.

On the top floor is the spacious master bedroom for two guests. It features a wood-burning stove, sauna, walk-in wardrobe and a generous bathroom with a shower and bath. The bedroom also has access to the shared balcony. On the same floor is another double bedroom with its own bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and access to the balcony.

On the first floor are two double bedrooms which share one bathroom. This floor also features the spacious living room with fireplace and television, a balcony and a separate dining area where the whole group can enjoy breakfast and dinner together. Firewood for both the wood-burning stove in the master bedroom and the fireplace in the living room is included during your stay.

There are a further three double bedrooms on the ground floor. One has its own wellness area with a sauna, Turkish steam room and shower. Each of the other two bedrooms has its own private bathroom located off the hallway.

After a day on the slopes, skis and ski boots can be stored safely and comfortably in the heated ski room.

During your stay at Chalet Joy, our chalet hosts prepare breakfast on seven mornings and a three-course dinner on six evenings. A selection of drinks, including beer, soft drinks and wine, is also included during your stay in Wagrain.

This means there is no need to go shopping or cook for a large group after a day of skiing. Instead, you have more time to enjoy your well-earned ski holiday in Wagrain. From late afternoon onwards, you can relax beside the fireplace, sit out on the balcony or make use of the sauna and Turkish steam room while the chalet hosts prepare your three-course dinner.

Our catered formula works particularly well at Chalet Joy: there is plenty of space to spend time together and enjoy the chalet's luxurious facilities, whilst the different floors and bedrooms also provide enough privacy when you would like some time to yourself.

Peaceful location above Wagrain and close to the slopes

Chalet Joy is located on Widmoosweg on the mountainside above Wagrain. From the chalet, you can enjoy open views across the valley and surrounding mountains. The centre of Wagrain is approximately one kilometre away.

The nearest major gondola is the Flying Mozart, approximately one kilometre from the chalet. When snow conditions are favourable, it is possible to ski very close to the chalet when setting off and returning. However, we deliberately do not describe Chalet Joy as guaranteed ski-in/ski-out accommodation, as this depends on snow conditions. Having a car during your stay is therefore very practical.

Skiing from Wagrain towards Flachau and St. Johann

From Wagrain you ski in Snow Space Salzburg, part of Ski amadé in Austria. The ski area links Wagrain with destinations including Flachau and St. Johann-Alpendorf, allowing you to explore several parts of the ski area from one central base without having to drive to a different village every day.

Snow Space Salzburg offers approximately 210 kilometres of pistes, with Wagrain forming an important link between the different areas. The Flying Mozart and G-LINK provide easy access to the surrounding mountains and connections towards Flachau.

Wagrain is therefore a practical base for groups with mixed skiing abilities. There is a wide choice of blue and red runs, whilst more experienced skiers can easily venture further into the ski area for longer days on the mountain.

Travelling to Chalet Joy

For guests travelling from the UK, flying to Salzburg is generally the most convenient option. Seasonal direct flights are often available from London and other UK airports. Salzburg Airport is approximately 70 kilometres from Wagrain, with the onward journey taking around 45 to 60 minutes by hire car or private transfer.

A hire car is particularly useful during your stay because Chalet Joy is situated in a quiet location above Wagrain and there is no ski bus stop directly at the chalet. Four free parking spaces are available. The final road up to the chalet can become steep and slippery in snowy conditions, so suitable winter tyres and snow chains are strongly recommended.

Travelling by train is also possible. From London, you can travel via Brussels and Germany towards Salzburg before continuing to St. Johann im Pongau. The final section to Wagrain can then be completed by bus, taxi or transfer.

Driving from the UK is possible via the Channel Tunnel or ferry and onwards through France, Belgium or Germany. For most British guests, however, flying to Salzburg and hiring a car is the more convenient option.
