At Wens Chalets, a catered chalet stay follows a clear and well-organised formula. Never stayed in a catered chalet before? On this page you can read exactly what a ski holiday week looks like. From arrival and a warm welcome from your chalet hosts to breakfast, dinner, the hosts' day off and departure: you will know exactly what to expect before you arrive.
A stay in a catered chalet with Wens Chalets combines the privacy of your own accommodation with the service of a fully catered formula. You stay in the chalet with your own group and benefit from breakfast, a three-course dinner six days a week, drinks and the service of the chalet hosts. This means you have far fewer practical matters to think about during your ski holiday and can focus on enjoying the slopes, the mountains and your group.
On the day of arrival, your chalet is available from 16:00. This gives our chalet hosts enough time to clean the chalet and prepare everything properly for your stay. When you arrive, the chalet is clean and ready for you, so you can calmly unpack your bags and meet your chalet hosts.
The arrival day is the moment when your ski holiday really begins. You enter a well-prepared chalet, can settle in at your own pace and do not first have to arrange all kinds of practical matters before you can relax.
On arrival, you and your group are welcomed by the chalet hosts. They are an important part of the catered chalet formula during your stay and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. In almost all cases, the chalet hosts stay in their own space within the same chalet, so someone is quickly available in unexpected situations. At the same time, they always respect the privacy of the guests.
Every morning, a varied breakfast is ready for you in the chalet. Just like dinner, the breakfast time is agreed in consultation, but it is usually between 07:30 and 09:00. This gives enthusiastic skiers plenty of time to catch the first lift, while guests who prefer a slower start can begin the day in a relaxed way. You do not have to do the shopping or stand in the kitchen yourself; you simply sit down for breakfast and then head towards the slopes.
It is exactly this convenience that makes a catered chalet so attractive to many guests. The day starts clearly and calmly, without anyone in the group first having to prepare breakfast.
From late afternoon, the chalet hosts are back in the chalet and begin preparing for the evening. They create a cosy atmosphere and, if desired, can turn on the sauna, hot tub or fireplace for you. The dinner time is agreed in consultation, but is usually between 18:00 and 19:30.
Six days a week, you sit down to a carefully prepared three-course dinner. The weekly menu is thoughtfully created each year by the culinary managers of Wens Chalets. This allows you to enjoy varied and well-prepared meals during your ski holiday, without having to cook or do the washing-up yourself.
Our chalet hosts have one day off per week, usually on Wednesday, unless otherwise agreed together. On Tuesday evening, the chalet hosts prepare everything for breakfast the next morning and explain what you need, so you can easily serve yourself breakfast the following morning. On this day, no three-course dinner is served in the chalet.
The day off gives you the opportunity to choose a restaurant yourself in the evening and discover the local gastronomy of the ski village. For many guests, this is a pleasant change during the chalet week. Your chalet hosts can of course give you recommendations for local restaurants.
On the day of departure, we ask you to leave the chalet by 10:00 at the latest. This gives the chalet hosts enough time to prepare everything neatly for the next guests. Departure day is usually practical and straightforward: you have breakfast as usual, pack your belongings, load the car, say goodbye to the chalet and the chalet hosts, and get ready for the journey home.
A catered chalet is not a hotel, but it is also not a fully self-catered chalet stay. It is precisely this combination that makes the concept special. It is useful to know in advance that:
Wens Chalets offers a clear and well-cared-for formula for your ski holiday. From arrival and breakfast to dinner, the host’s day off and departure: you know what to expect in advance and can enjoy the slopes, the mountains and your group during your stay.
